To this day, even after all these years, I sometimes wake up to the sound of that little car flipping over. The angry, shrill screech of steel and gravel, joined by the glass ping of empty bottles, as it catapulted into the ditch on the opposite side of the road.
I crawled out a side window, blood pouring down my seventeen year old face from a head wound, and made my way back up to the road, grinning with mad indifference over just how close it all could have ended then and there – more speed than sense, in more ways than one.
And kudos to Eric Church for bringing real country to a whole new generation of listeners.
